If you consider yourself to be overweight then the effects can be devastating on both your mental and physical health. It will affect your confidence and how you react with others. It can cause your self-esteem to tumble lower and lower. You never like to go shopping because all of the clothing that you want to buy makes you feel fat. Everything that you’re wearing everything seems to be uncomfortably tight. You constantly avoid taking vacations to tropical places because of the chance that you may be required to wear a bathing suit. You cringe if someone suggests that you have your photograph taken. It is frustrating because you feel lost with nowhere to turn for help. What can you do?

The bottom line is that you need a plan. You need a plan and someone to motivate you to lose weight and keep it off. You will have to make a decision on what proven weight loss program best suits your lifestyle. If you have a busy lifestyle, eat too much and have very little time to go to the gym, then you too are part of this huge problem.

Men who are starting to show pattern baldness is a problem that is very common in today’s day and age. By the time most men reach the age of 60, the appearance or the lack of appearance of their hair is a reality that most men fear. Similarly, in women, hair loss and pattern baldness effects an increasing portion of women each year as well.  It has been estimated that almost 1 billion dollars per year is spent of ways to fix this baldness problem. The hair loss industry has grown in leaps in bounds which give way to the many myths about hair loss and how to recover from this condition.

Myth #1 – Baldness Occurs from the Genes of the Mother

The first common myth about baldness that is not 100% true is the myth that your baldness is a result of the genes that were passed down from your mother. Although the chromosome (x) that men receive from their mother is in fact the baldness gene, however recent studies have shown that men that experience pattern baldness, in fact have fathers who are bald.  It seems that if your father is bald then you are more likely to become bald yourself later in life.

Myth #2 – Wearing Hats Cause Baldness

Wrong. This myth, while popular, has no basis in reality and should be classified in the category of “an old wives tale” than actual science.  Wearing hats of any shape and size will not cause hair loss. While this may be a relief to some people who love sporting baseball caps of their favourite team, the potential if scalp infection is very real if your hats are dirty. Dirt and grime cause the scalp to become infected which can speed up the hair loss process, so be sure to wear clean hats at all times and you will not have a problem.

Myth #3 – Hair Sprays and Gels Cause Hair Loss

While some people have noticed an increase of hair loss when sprays and gels have be overused, the fact is that it’s not the spray that’s the issue but the way you use it that negatively impacts hair growth.

Myth #4 – All Men Go Bald When The Age

The common myth surrounding baldness in men is that all men will eventually go bald.  The ageing process is a fact of life, but just because you get old doesn’t necessarily mean that you will go bald. While it’s true that hair loss is common in men over 50, baldness has been noted to be a problem in teens as well. Usually stress is the main factor in causing pre-adult baldness, but in this case genetics can play a factor.  If your young and find yourself going bald be sure to monitor your stress levels because premature balding could be a sign of added stress in your life.

Hair loss is a fact of life for numerous people, but most of the myths surrounding hair loss are just that. Myths.

Many are seeking ways to prevent hair loss. The truth is, our hair changes as we age. As we get older we lose more hair and we tend to begin noticing it more and more. It’s normal to lose at least 100 hairs each and every day. Over the course of a year, this can really add up.

Protecting your hair through a healthy diet is a great start to help prevent hair loss. Maybe there is some truth to the old adage “you are what you eat”. Eat more of these foods to help keep your healthy head of hair.

Walnuts

A healthy diet with some walnuts in it will help improve your locks. Walnuts contain an oil that helps hair growth. But beware, if you eat too many you’re hair will have too much of a healthy thing and look dull and oily.

Popeye Had It Right

Eat your spinach. A diet deficient in iron is another cause for hair loss. Rich in minerals and vitamins, spinach will help to keep your hair follicles healthy and strong.

Eat For The Halibut

Halibut is rich in magnesium which can help prevent hair loss. Many other kinds of fish also have an abundance of magnesium so eat up.

Carrots

Not only healthy for your eyesight, this tuber vegetable is rich in Vitamin A which can strengthen your hair. Have you ever wondered how models get those gorgeous locks of hair? They eat a diet laden in healthy foods that will benefit their entire bodies including their hair.

Bok Choy

When a dermatologist looks at hair loss, they also check your ferritin levels. Ferritin levels will detect good levels of iron and healthy hair. Rich in iron, bok choy is an ideal vegetable for healthy hair. So go ahead and make that favorite salad of yours. Try using some bok choy along with the spinach for a unique flavor treat and for a healthier head.

Greek Yogurt

For all you yogurt fans out there, Greek yogurt packs a powerful dose of Vitamin B5 and Vitamin D. Both of these vitamins are important for healthy hair and follicles. Try topping your green yogurt with some walnuts or granola for a healthy start to the day.

Eggs

Eggs are another great source for Vitamin D. No matter how you like your eggs, if you try to eat one per day you’ll have healthier hair. Try a morning omelette with some spinach, Bok Choy and perhaps a few walnuts across the top. Combining these healthy foods will benefit your overall well being.

Making healthy dietary choices as we age can not only prevent diseases and medical conditions, it can also strengthen our hair and our bodies. These choices are simple to make. While we are out shopping for food we can simply choose to buy more of the healthier alternatives in lieu of the junk food that’s so readily available. Our food choices can benefit us for many years to come.
