Aged Garlic Extract (Kyolic)

Aged garlic extract is a modified form of supplemental garlic. It exerts many similar therapeutic effects as regular garlic except that it does not kill or inhibit detrimental microorganisms. Many people prefer aged garlic extract over regular garlic products because it is odourless.

The manufacturing process for aged garlic extracts involves the slicing of raw garlic and placing it in an extracting solution (of diluted ethanol) in large stainless steel tanks, where it is naturally cold-aged for up to 20 months without using heat. This is followed by filtration and concentration of the extract.

  • The general therapeutic dosage of aged garlic extract is 2,200 - 4,400 mg per day (using Kyolic capsules or tablets).
  • If using Kyolic liquid, the usual dosage is 2 - 4 ml per day.
