Issue : HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GREAT HEALTH FOR 2005!!
Dear Thexton.com.au Customer

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GREAT HEALTH FOR 2005!!

Around this time of year many people take a long hard look at themselves and resolve to make some major changes to improve their health and fitness during the New year. These “New Year resolutions” are often a result of not looking after your self properly during the previous year and then having a major binge over the Christmas period that piles on the kilos and expands the waistline.

The key to losing weight and improving your health is very simple..”Eat less and exercise more”, easy to say but requires great personal motivation and ongoing persistence to actually make a real difference. However being the correct weight for your body type is only one part of improving your health, you must also supplement your diet with the vitamins and minerals that are missing from your diet due to poor food manufacturing practices, and over farming. You should also protect yourself from the effects of environmental pollution and health issues that are hereditary.

thexton.com.au is here to support you with many products that will greatly assist you to improve your health in so many ways....

Try our Vitamin Advisor
  • One thing we can not do is exercise for you, you need to work up to do at least 5 sessions per week of a minimum of 40 minutes, each session, where you raise your heart rate to around 75% of your maximum heart rate (to calculate MHR it is 200 minus your age). This can be a mixture of things like Power walking, Jogging, Weight training, Exercycle/treadmill or whatever elevates your heart rate. Try and make it enjoyable, I take an ipod with me to listen to my favorite music. If you are new to exercise then start slowly and keep your Doctor informed of what you are doing even if it’s just a phone call, email or fax.
  • Do not consume food or drink that contains Sugar.
  • Do not smoke.
  • Increase your intake of fruit and vegetables.
  • Choose low GI high fiber foods.
  • And the old adage, drinks 8 glasses of pure water every day to flush out the toxins.

Good luck with your 2005 Health plan, if we can be of any further assistance then drop us an email to customerservice@thexton.com.au.

There is nothing that we can do about the Tsunami but we can contribute to the fund that will help the survivors, especially Children, to escape death from disease or starvation. Weekly News
Organic Foods A Better Choice Naturally

The trend towards people buying organic foods has risen substantially over the last couple of years as people have become more aware of the process our foods go through before we get them on the table.  Organic foods are free from chemicals, fertilisers, genetic modifications and the farmers practice agricultural practices which allows for sustainability of the land and water resources. This movement of wanting healthy foods has been driven in last few years when companies started to genetically modify foods to improve the yields that the farms can take whilst making them cheaper to grow.  The growing problem with genetically engineered foods is that the modified seeds then spread to other crops infecting their crops and increasing the amount of genetically engineered food which we are consuming.

Every month has seen an increase in range and amounts of organic foods which are now available even in big chain supermarkets, and the more organic foods that are purchased will result in a greater range of products at a cheaper price as the market will become more competitive.  Most organic foods will have a sticker on them to say that they have been approved by a third party which ensures that the product fills the criteria to claim that the particular product is organic.

There are several reasons why you should consider purchasing organic foods which includes;

  • The fruit and vegetables are denser in vitamins and minerals as their growth has been normal instead of enhancing the speed of growth of particular fruits and vegetables.  This allows certain nutrients to be absorbed from the ground which can then be passed on to you when you eat the produce.
  • In general animals are often forced to endure hard lives with frequent exposure to pesticides, abortifacients, hormones, tick dunking and antibiotics before they get to you and many are locked in feed lots to increase their growth rate so they don’t get any sunlight, exercise or green grass.  Organic meat producers allow the animals to roam around to eat the grass and are not exposed to the same chemicals as their counterparts.
  • By eating organic foods you are inadvertently reducing the amounts of chemicals which are being used in agriculture, which means there are fewer chemicals contaminating our environment.
  • Organic foods taste better as they actually taste like they are supposed to unlike many foods which all taste the same due to the processors that they go though.
  • Organic fruit is not irradiated.  That’s right most fruits and vegetables are irradiated before they get to you which destroy bacteria on them.  Which poses a couple of problems as many of these bacteria tell us that the fruit is off by that mouldy growth or putrid smell, and what happens if some of the molecules are left unstable from the process?

Organic foods are far more beneficial for you, your health and the environment so try and replace as much of your regular fruit, vegetables and meats with organic alternatives.

Questions & Answers
How can you tell if a product is a genuine organic product?

Unfortunately there are people out there who are selling food products which they claim to be organic, when they do not conform to the standards which have been set by the industry. There are a few third party certifiers which establish that the products are organic by inspecting the farms standard of practice and ensure that they are not using the range of chemicals which are being used by other agricultural practices. These products which have been approved as being organic will have a special sticker which approves them as being organic so if the foods you are buying don’t have the organic stamp you can’t be sure that they are genuine organic products.
Questions & Answers
Where can I get organic fruits and vegetables from?

Some of the main stream supermarkets are starting to sell organic produce. There are organic farmers markets which usually circulate through different suburbs on the weekend which should have most of the things that you are after. However if you live in an area which does not cater for your needs you might be able to look at starting your own vegetable patch which is not only rewarding but therapeutic as well.
Questions & Answers
Does a lack of selenium cause a lack of Vitamin E in the body?

Selenium functions as an antioxidant independently just like Vitamin E. If the mineral selenium is low in the body it will increases the amount of Vitamin E which is used by the body. Selenium can be found in many products including many animal products, grains and nuts. The selenium content in foods vary however it is very reliant on where the product is grown as selenium is absorbed from the soil into plants. Always try and obtain the adequate amount of selenium in your diet which ranges from 70mcg to 85mcg per day.
